Eco-Friendly wedding venues
The wedding venue you choose can set the whole tone for your day. A grand country manor will give a more elegant feel, a tippee in a wood a boho vibe, a converted barn a rustic style. So obviously this is a pretty big decision for couples to make. Before finding a venue here are some tips to make it as eco friendly as possible
Distance to the majority of guests. The closer guests are to the venue the less fuel they'll use getting - simple right? Except often guests to your wedding day are spread far and wide across the globe. But, just have a think about it before you start to look - is there somewhere relatively central to a large number of your guests?
Can you have your reception and ceremony in the same place? If so, this is equally going to cut down on additional miles by the guests, and means less logistics to organise - hooray!
Eco-friendly venues. There are some great venues with great eco-credentials, here are some of my favourites:
Elmore Court - This 750 year old grade II listed home in teh Cotswolds has been converted into a self sustainable wedding venue with a biomass heating system, naturally built rammed earth wall marquee, in house catering sources food locally as well as from the kitchen garden and there is even a 'grow to order' option if you book well in advance!
The Matara Centre - has been built on earth-friendly principles. matar's parkland has been organic for 16 years, they have 100% renewable energy, a strong recylcing policy, they use local, fresh, organic food and have planted hundreds of trees.
Fforest, Cardigan - 200 acres of camp and farm and a giant hat tipi's. All food is locally sourced and grown, this really is getting back to nature in the most beautiful way
Huntstile Organic Farm - A beautiful working, organic farm, their electric is sourced from renewable energy, they use a bio mass boiler, solar panels, collect rainwater, recycle, compost - you name it they do it! And to top it all it is a beautiful venue too.
You could utilise a beautiful outdoors space. The Forestry commission have partnered with a company called woodland weddings (http://www.woodland-weddings.co.uk/index.html) to enable you to get married in one of their beautiful forests.
And some beautiful glamping and camp sites are now licensed to hold weddings including
Get the guests to camp on site as well and you keep it all low impact and energy efficient and super friendly for the environment - win win! WeddingYurts supply the most beautiful yurts to host your wedding in if you are looking for something not only eco-friendly but incredibly stylish too.
